The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is an independent organisation and Australia's
biggest and most influential health advocacy organisation for doctors and patients. It represents the public face of Australian medicine.

The AMA fees list originated as a Microsoft Access Database and was accessible to the members of the AMA in CSV format as a link on their website and in hard-copy as a annual publication. It was initially a very manual process with the database being exported as CSV and uploaded to the website. While the book publication took months to collate and cost tens of thousands of dollars to produce annually. With fees list changes occurring quarterly, the book was quickly made redundant.

The AMA contracted Agileware to develop a system which would take the Microsoft Access Database and make it accessible to their members through a sub-domain of ama.com.au. The system which eventuated from this development was a site where:

• The Drupal website is updated directly from Microsoft Access database via a single-click.
• Changes to the fees are tracked during updates.
• Members are authenticated from an internal AMA database.
• Extensive search for fees (keyword, category, AMA number, MBS number).

The result is a system which is easier to manage and provides improved functionality to the AMA membership base.
